Thank you so much for the flowers and for your interest in my situation.
I attended the health screening that you held in May of 2008 at my church (Sagemont). I originally decided to go to the screening because I saw that it included the A.B.I. screening for arterial disease. I am 44 and have a family history of heart disease and hardening of the arteries. (My husband is a small business owner and we have basic insurance in case of a need for hospitalization.) So, when I saw that this was being offered for a reasonable price I decided to go to the screening. Although I could choose to pay for only this test, I decided to get the rest of the tests that you offered.
Within a couple of weeks, I received the results. My circulation was fine, but I was informed that I had a complex cyst with solid nodules on my thyroid and also on my kidney. There was also a note regarding my left kidney that said for me to see my doctor a.s.a.p. and to get a CT Scan with and without contrast - which I did. I also received a copy of the ultrasound taken at the screening. It was obvious to all the doctors I saw, that this could be cancer. Because the mass was only 2.8 cm. I had no symptoms. Every doctor I saw was so surprised that I had found this out at my church.
In September 2008 I had my kidney removed. It was renal cell carcinoma. Because of the early detection, the cancer was contained in the kidney and no further treatment is needed. Had I not done the screening and waited until I had symptoms, the chances for a good outcome were much less. There is a great chance that the cancer would not be contained to the kidney and even a chance that it would be in other organs by the time you have symptoms.
My doctors confirm that I was very "lucky" to have found this. I thank God for guiding me through this process and my church for providing this service. I am so grateful to your ultrasound technician for her thorough screening and for the advice of your doctor who advised me to take the appropriate steps to get this taken care of before it was too late. Thank you for the service that you are providing. I have many friends and relatives that will be attending the next screening! (Now, I will begin following up on the cysts found on my thyroid.)

On December 17, 2007, I participated in your health screening, which was offered through the Killeen Independent School District. The thyroid screening indicated a complex cyst. I followed up with my primary physician who sent me to the endocrinologist. This doctor repeated the test and agreed my thyroid did have several cysts. After needle aspirations, two of the three cysts indicated the presence of Hurthle cells. The recommendation was surgery to remove my thyroid. I had surgery on June 18. The pathology report indicated the third and smallest of the cysts was surprisingly papillary cancer. The other two larger ones were benign.
I remember talking with one of your representatives who was coming to speak to my staff to explain the process. When asked why he was with your company, he said it had saddened him to use his medical talents merely making people comfortable as they endured medical conditions which could have been detected early. He was pleased to be helping people BEFORE they become so ill.
Because I am not one to run to doctors for every little ailment and doctors treat just what the patient presents during office visits, this condition would have gone unnoticed. I am very grateful for your health screening which caught this cancer in an early stage thus being easily treatable. Thank you for creating health screenings in the workplace. I am proof your purpose of exposing undiagnosed health conditions before they become life threatening is very valuable.
Thank you so much!

February of 2005, Health Screen Specialists came from Houston to Snook ISD and performed 3 health-screening tests on me. I was only 49 at the time but have had treatment for high cholesterol about 20 years and high blood pressure treatment for 10 years and chose to have the carotid Doppler ultrasound. There were no physical symptoms. My report showed 35 to 50% blockage in the right carotid artery. They suggested I take the report to my doctor.
My doctor performed additional tests and determined the artery was 50 to 65% blocked. The plan was to monitor it and continue medication. About a month and a half ago, my new doctor did an MRA, showing 78% blockage of the artery. My carotid endarterectomy was performed on March 14th and the surgeon said I was very lucky to have found this blockage, as very little blood was going through and it was blocked 90%. I would have had a stroke any time.
Without the opportunity to purchase affordable and inexpensive screenings, through Health Screen Specialists, I could not have gotten my doctor to order the tests without having symptoms. I would be minimally, paralyzed with brain damage or possible even dead. Don’t miss the opportunity to get the affordable well health screenings; it could save your life too!

I wanted to express my thankfulness to your company for giving me a second chance of living a much longer life. By having the complete preventive screening on Friday October 27th at St. Jude Catholic Church in Chattanooga, TN. an abnormal growth was found on my left kidney. I was advised to see my physician as soon as possible. I showed my physician the ultrasound pictures taken at the screening and he scheduled me for an MRI the next day. The MRI showed the same results and he then made an appointment for me to see a urologist. When the urologist saw the ultrasound pictures and the MRI results, he scheduled a CT scan. It was determined that I had a lesion on my left kidney and it was in my best interest to have the entire kidney removed. I had surgery on Tuesday November 14th. The pathology report determined that it was a cancerous lesion, but because it was discovered early no surrounding tissue was affected. Because of the early detection I was spared not having to go through chemo or radiation treatments. By the way, I had no symptoms at all. I am doing great and will really enjoy and appreciate the rest of my life.
Your company representative who explained the screening to our parish on Sunday October 22nd, was very convincing. Without his stating that if you are over 40, ever smoked or had a history of heart issues in your family, we (my wife also had the tests done) probably would have ignored signing up for the tests. I was a smoker and my mother had several strokes that eventually took her life at the age of 62.
Please consider to repeat this screening in our church or area again. I know of several people that had missed your last visit and would be very interested in having the screening.
We thank God for putting you in our path and that we took advantage of your screening process.

First of all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your hard work!!! One June 14th my husband and I went for our screenings at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Since we were leaving for Las Vegas in a few days….we really weren’t very concerned about the results except to know we got good results and we could plan our trip.
Unfortunately, the tech discovered a complex cyst on my husband’s left Kidney. After a few phone calls, doctor appointments and many sleepless nights….I felt my life was over….We were supposed to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas. Finally on July 12th the doctor decided to do major surgery and remove the tumor. The surgery lasted 5 and half hours and we didn’t see Tom for another 2 hours more. Only two months before my husband received a clean bill of health with his yearly physical from his personal doctor. But they were wrong….
The Kidney specialist Dr. Vassar said we won more than the Jackpot from Vegas…..He stated it was a stage 2 Kidney Cancer and very aggressive. But he feels he got it all with the surgery. We still have to monitor Tom every few months but we got back hope that would not have been there if we hadn’t known about it. The doctor feels there is a 10-15% chance it might come back but Tom will be closely monitored often. Everyone at NE Baptist called Tom the miracle patient. Of course we tell everyone how you and your staff saved his life……And I’m sure you are probably getting phone calls from a few of them to schedule and appointment.
We know we will never meet you but please know that we will never forget you Mr. Ruesch and your staff. We appreciate everyone from the person answering the phone to taking our appointment, to the techs, and everyone else we don’t know who work to make this possible. We thank our church for allowing you to come visit us just plain simple people. You all will be in our prayers for all the work you do!!! And next year, God willing and with a lot of our saving, we plan to go to Europe and celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We will light a candle in Rome, Italy in your name Mr. Ruesch and for your wonderful Staff!!!
God Bless you and God bless your Staff!!!!!!! You really do work miracles!!!!!!

On Sept. 16th of this year my husband and I were scheduled for a screening at Holy Cross Catholic Church in The Colony. We weren't going to go because I didn't feel well. We went anyway. The screening found a large Aneurysm on my husband’s Aorta. The supervisor an duty called my husband's Dr. right then. The Dr. didn't take it very seriously but ordered a CAT scan anyway. The Cat showed that the AAA was actually larger then the screening showed.
My husband had surgery on Sept.27.There was a lot more distention of the Aorta than was originally thought. We are thanking God that we had this screening. The surgeon said he feels my husband would have died of a ruptured Aorta within 6-12 mo. if not detected. My husband’s primary care physician had just given him a complete screening and a clean bill of health on the 15th of Sept. In fact, my husband was supposed to fly to France on Sept.17th.
We are thankful that Health Screen Specialists made this available to us in such an easy and quick manner. These things are just not found without these types of screenings. We even received a call of a HSS person after the surgery to make sure that we had followed up on the findings. We are deeply appreciative and will recommend HSS to everyone that will listen.
Thanks again and feel free to use our example as a teaching tool,

On June 5th your organization conducted a health screening at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in College Station. I decided to participate in the screening with no expectation of finding any health problems. I decided to have the complete package of eight tests. After completing the eight tests, the screener advised me during the wrap-up session that he had found a mass in my left kidney. He further advised that I see my personal physician as soon as possible. The screening technician also gave me a copy of my test results and copies of my ultrasound pictures to show my physician.
On Tuesday June 6th I met my physician and upon seeing the ultrasound photos, he ordered a CT scan that verified a tumor on the left kidney. Following a complete renal scan and other testing, I was scheduled for surgery to remove the entire left kidney. Surgery was performed on June 22nd and the pathology lab reported the tumor was Renal Cell Carcinoma and all other surrounding tissue and nodes were clear.
I am recovering at home now and doing very well. I am writing this note to you to express my thanks and gratitude to you and your staff for your part in saving my life. This type of cancer is asymptomatic and I would have not known of any problems with my health until this cancer had reached advanced stages. Thank you for giving our church the opportunity to have this screening and carrying out the process in a timely and professional way. I know that a loving God directed these events and moved many great Christian people to identify my problem and take the steps necessary to correct it. I have placed your organization on my permanent prayer list and I pray that you will continue your services to many people in the future.

I just wanted to write a little note to tell your company thank you for what you are doing. On May 9th you came to our church in Mason and I had the complete vascular package. They detected a growth on the left side of my Thyroid. After taking the pictures to my doctor and many tests, my cancerous thyroid was removed June 27th. All three doctors I have been to could not ever feel it and the thyroid blood test showed normal. So again, I want to say “thank you”.

I participated in the health screenings provided by Health Screen Specialists at my jobsite. During the ultrasound being performed on the arteries in my neck, the tech, Tonya, told me she saw a mass on my thyroid and suggested I have it checked out by my doctor. After several tests, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer (stage 1 and 2). I have since undergone thyroid surgery and radiation treatment. I am scheduled for my first body scan in January 2007 to make sure I am cancer free.
I am writing this letter to say thank you to Tonya. I believe God moves in mysterious ways and he sent Tonya to me to help find the cancer. I had never had the screenings done before.
You all do a great job and should be very proud of what you do.

I was indeed fortunate to have gone to St. Marie Goretti screening as they found a carotid artery which I had operated on subsequently successfully.
Thanks for you service.

"NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS"! "WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW WILL NOT HURT YOU"!
THESE ARE GREAT SAYINGS BUT NOT WHEN IT COMES TO OUR HEALTH.
On January 24,2007, my husband and I attended a "HEALTH SCREENING" at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
At this time he was diagnosed with a very large Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm.
We left immediately for our home in St. Tammany, Louisiana and entered the hospital on January 25,2007.
In preparation for the AAA Surgery, it was discovered that he had large blockages in three of his main cardiac arteries.
Prior to this devastating news he had no symptoms, whatsoever!
On January 30,2007 he had "Quadruple By-Pass Heart Surgery" and only three days later he had the "AAA" surgery.
God truly works in mysterious ways. HE led us to this "HEALTH SCREENING" in Houston, Texas and we are not residents of Texas.
Now two months later we are happy to report that Tom is about 90% back to normal.
We are extremely thankful to GOD and HEALTH SCREEN SPECIALISTS for the outcome.
It was a pleasant surprise to receive the unexpected bouquet of flowers from you and much appreciated. Again, Thanks for the follow-up telephone call from Teri Migl.
Sincerely,
Tom & Rita Garrett, Mandeville, LA
Dear Health Screen Specialists,
Thanks to your services, I am still with life on this planet, with health and recovering energy, and continuing to serve God in ministry as a Maryknoll missionary priest.
Some six months ago on January 30, I casually (providentially) stopped at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Houston, Texas, for your screening services. I was feeling fine and had just celebrated Mass at a Catholic service agency for the mentally handicapped and poor. This screen test proved a life-saver since it revealed a rather severe and large abdominal aortic aneurysm. Your health screener called her supervisor who asked if I had someone to drive me immediately to Emergency. What a jolt and eye opener! On the same day my two sisters and a brother-in-law had also taken your screen tests.
My siblings (two sisters and two brothers) all expect to live long lives since my mother died at 89 and my father lived to 102. In fact his birth date (02/02/1902) was the day before I was operated on as an emergency with a CAT scan aneurysm showing an aorta of 7.5 cms., which normally measures 2.5cms.
Again thank you for your screen services which alert many people and help us to be more responsible for our own health and quality of life. Since the operation I have become more health conscious and taken more responsibility for my own well-being.
Fr. Rafael R. Davila, M.M.
